Freezing Bluebonnets

Griswald's or Bryant's?? I can't really seem to watch the news these days...too much going on. I knew it would be a little cooler today and sunny, so I thought it would be great weather to take the kiddos to see the bluebonnets. Well, most bluebonnet photos are in cute spring clothes with pastel colors. No, not the Griswald photos. We are in winter sweaters....needless to say, it was a little chilly. But you know what, we got some great photos regardless. Riley really enjoyed seeing the flowers. Bentley has already broken the law and picked some (and tried to eat them)....sssshhhh, don't tell :)

Bentley is 9 Months Old

Bentley is 20 lbs 13 oz (80%), 28.5 in (80%), and her head is 45 cm (75%). She got a great report today!!!

Ride 'em Cowgirl!!!

I put Bentley's rocking horse that her Nana got her for Christmas together this past Sunday and she really enjoys it. Riley wants so bad to ride it, but he is a tad too big for the safety seat. She really likes it when she is on and I bounce her to the Lone Ranger song :) She is 9 months old today and I cannot believe how big she is getting. I will post her stats tomorrow after her 9 month checkup. She is learning to eat and drink from a sippy cup and is doing quite well with it. She is also SOOOO close to crawling, but has been for a while, so any day we expect her to take off. She says momma all the time, especially when she wants to be fed or when her backwards crawling has landed her in a compromising position. She is a sweet baby and so good for me. She LOVES her brother and thinks he is hysterical and these days, he loves her too. He gives her kisses all the time. I am blessed.

The Mailman & the Princess

Riley just told me tonight that he wanted to be a mailman when he grows up. When asked why, he responded, "Because I LOVE mail." I told him that was great and he said, "Momma, you can be a mailman with me." Nice to know I have a future with the United States Postal Service.

There are also some pictures of Princess Bentley in her tutu that Santa Clause brought her. Riley is in a couple, although, he refuses to take pictures these days. This is the best I can get!!

Bentley Gets Into Harvard!

Bentley has been submitting her applications to all of the Ivy League schools and she was finally accepted to Harvard!!!

Rodeo Time

Riley and Bentley had their first rodeo trip last Saturday. We went to the carnival and Riley rode the HUGE (at least to his acrophobic mother) ferris wheel and many other rides. We also saw baby farm animals and enjoyed the petting zoo. It was great fun. We met my mother and aunt there. Of course, Memaw calls my cell phone to tell us "exactly" where to meet and she says I am at the RELIANT ARENA. I said ok, let me get the map out and make sure we are on the same page. Are you sure you are at the ARENA? Yes, Carrie, we are at the RELIANT ARENA, not the stadium. Ok Mom, we (me and 2 kids and a man) are headed to meet you. So we trek to the ARENA. We get to the ARENA and sure enough, we look everywhere and I call and we try to find each other, only to discover, she is at the RELIANT CENTER. Hmmmmmmm........you have to love the geriatric loved ones in your life :)

Riley has an awesome vocabulary and has for quite a while now. He picks up on everything we say and the inflections in his voice constantly crack Casey and I up. His new thing now is to tell me "Momma, go in the living room" when he wants to do something he is not supposed to. So smart to tell me to leave the room so he can misbehave in peace. He also has assembled his drum set upstairs, which is a 4 piece ensemble and he plays them constantly!!! He plays the guitar left-handed and sings such songs as "All Aboard the Choo-choo," "ABC," & "Twinkle, Twinle Little Star." He is such an amazing little guy! The teachers at his school adore him and he is constantly getting notes about his good behavior sent home to me. Hmmmm, why doesn't he act like that at home?

Bentley is 8 months old now has 2 teeth and is growing like a weed. Last Friday she weighed 20 lbs 4oz. She is a little chunker like her brother. Her hair is getting thicker and she has the most beautiful eyelashes. She is army crawling backwards, but I am sure over the next month she will learn to go forward and boy will I be in trouble!!!

We celebrated, well, I should say, Riley celebrated Casey's 30th birthday on Feb 19th. (Casey was sick and didn't even open his cards or gifts). Riley was glad that Momma got "brown" cake and he ate the heck out of it. He told me he LOVES cake. It has been a rough cold and flu season around our neck of the woods, but for my sake (and sanity), I hope the spring brings us good health!
